New Early Learning Center for Elementary School

Client: St. Adalbert Catholic School

Scope: 13,000 SF Addition; 1.3 acre site improvements including new parking

Construction Cost: $3,700,000

Completion Date: 2019

With rapid growth in the student body and an existing facility filled beyond capacity, St. Adalbert School leaders and the Diocese of Cleveland sought to expand the School’s facilities on its current campus.  Accordingly, KAI was retained to provide A&E services from Conceptual Design through Construction Phase Services for a new Early Childhood Learning Center. The new building offers a dedicated facility to serve the School’s PreK through 2nd grade students and has an approximate anticipated enrollment of 170-190 students.

The center is prominently located along E. 84th St on a portion of the St. Adalbert campus in Cleveland’s Fairfax Neighborhood.  The site work area is approximately 1.3 acres and site improvements for the project include a new parking area containing 27 new parking spaces; a designated drop-off area, a new basketball court, and playground.  New fencing borders the project area.

KAI designed the 13,000 SF, one-story, freestanding Early Childhood and Learning Center to include eight modern classrooms, a smaller specialized learning space,  a multi-purpose/cafeteria space, administrative areas, support spaces, and an outdoor play area with green space.  Furniture is scaled for young children and the walls and floors are decorated with splashes of bright colors.

Exterior building materials include brick complementary to the existing school and church, aluminum storefront, flush metal panels, and flush, painted fiber cement panels.
